Thistlehead and Sunglow

Strong winter sunshine, rare for Seattle, sets a downy thistlehead glowing. This was deep within a very thick patch of brush, but I kind of like the diagonal cross-hatching created by all the other stems (teasels, mosty, I think; and the green bits are wild hazelnut scrub).

This was on a bit of vacant ground behind my dentist's office. (I was early to my appointment, and figured I'd fill my time foraging for Flickr fodder. :)
