LSL's 45118 'The Royal Artilleryman' threads the city walls at Northgate Lock, departing Chester with gusto this morning.
Great to see and hear a 'Peak' back on the mainline and a added bonus for its loaded test run was a full set of Statesman coaches.
* 45118 caught fire at the end of BR service on a Newcastle - Bristol Mail and was condemned. It was taken in convoy with other Peaks from Tinsley to the March scrap line.
Amazingly it got saved for preservation through an appeal in Steam Railway Magazine and went to the Northampton Steam Railway.
