A test train ran today for a new cement flow from Oxwellmains Lafarge in Scotland to Weaste on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal. Previously cement was brought by boat from Drogheda in Ireland.
Traffic on the Weaste branch was frequent in years gone-by but this is the first working since 2016.
