Widnes South, 42606 (12.10 Liverpool Lime St - Warrington Bank Quay Low Level) June 1960, Photo: Eddie Bellass.

With my recent photographic activity in the Widnes & Runcorn area it is great to look back on how it was in my childhood. An image from my friend and fellow work colleague Eddie Bellass taken from the privileged position of the PABX Room at the ICI Central Labs. Overlooking the LNWR Widnes South station it gave the perfect vantage point to capture Fairburn 2-6-4T 42606 (8B) restarting the 12.10 Liverpool Lime Street to Warrington Bank Quay Low Level train in the summer of 1960. Widnes South closed to passenger traffic with the timetable changes of September 10th 1962.
