FK 16 – 77mm German Field Gun.
This German Field Gun was captured by the 3 Battalion on the Somme in France on 18 September 1918. This campaign was known as the third battle of the Somme and lasted 100 days from 8 August – 11 November 1918 and included several battles that led to the collapse of the German defences.
After WW1 the gun was presented to Orange on the agreement that it would be permanently displayed and preserved. It was installed in Cook Park in the 1920s.
