Friends For Life 42/365

Went to the riding school this afternoon to spend some time with my daughter and our pony and horse. I also wanted to experiment a little with a bare off camera flash, inspired by a video from DigitalRev starring Zach Arias. I practised a little this morning with a P&S and a Lumopro flash set to slave, triggered by the built in flash. Got some nice portraits but missed some space to work in because of the lack of depth of field. Then I realised I don't do much bare flash at all. So I took my Lumic G3 with the Lumopro to the riding school to experiment with it. This one I took at the stables with the flash @ 1/16 bounced to a sort of white wall left. On the right are also some parts of white wall between the stables so light bounced there as well. At 10 o'clock there is a small window.

I am pleased with this result and should bounce more :) Most of the time I use multiple flashes and modifiers. Got a lot of good pictures this afternoon at different spots around the property. I like this one best because it is of two friends for life. Our first pony. The one who made our daughters horse back riders. Precious memories and of course she stays with us! These two have the strongest connection together of our three kids. Real friends for life!

Lens: Olympus 45mm 1,8

Strobist: Lumopro LP 120 bare, set to slave @ 1/16, handheld left from camera bounced to a white wall with parts of white wall on the opposite site too. Triggered by built in flash, underexposed. Background underexposed by 2/3 stop.
