Arlington: Test Drive

Within thirty minutes of hanging up the phone, I was at Patton Arms. I walked in the building where Arnold met me in the lobby. They even had a cup of coffee prepared for me. Arnold led me through many corridors and doors with passcodes and eye scans. Down deep into the undergrounds of Patton Arms, we reached our destination. We were standing in front of a glass window, presumably bulletproof. Behind the window was a completely gray test dummy. Then, a man in fireproof clothing holding some type of hilt stepped out onto the floor in front of the dummy. Arnold nodded at him. The man then lifted up a hilt as a wire started coming out of it. When all of the wire was out of the hilt, it suddenly started flaming. The man swung the whip around in the air several times; he then lashed the whip forward towards the dummy, wrapping it with the fiery whip like a snake engulfing its prey. The entire dummy caught fire. The man holding the whip loosened the grip of the whip while turning of the flame and retracting it. When the man did this, two other Patton Arms workers came in with fire extinguishers, aiming them at the incinerating test object. Arnold smirked and turned to me. "I'm guessing the awe on your ace insinuates that you like it."

"Like is definitely an understatement. And you want me to use this?"

"Yes. I'd like you to sort of 'test drive' it in real life settings."

"What's the catch?"

"Well.... y'see it's been having these malfunctioning problems..."

"What type of problems?"

"Well, it only works for about twenty seconds at a time, and occasionally the fire gets out of control at the end of the twenty."

"That's it?"

"Yup."

"I'll take it!"

"Good then! Now I have some new armor pieces I wanna show you. These will cost you though..."

"Eh, I figured it would happen eventually."
