I have seen enough banana trees to recognise one when I see it. But, I wouldn't have done, until we moved here.
I was up by the sports ground and knew that there was a tree in one of the gardens. Only most of the time I can only see the leaves, due to a wall and a neighbour's gate.
The last time I went by, the garden gate was open and this caught my eye - so glad it did!
I'd been told by someone, that although banana trees grow here, they wouldn't fruit unless in a hothouse. Oh no, it's got fruit!
Sadly the chances of me seeing the flower bloom are pretty slim, that garden gate is hardly ever open. Plus with the rain we're getting, it may not be great for it, even though today hasn't been as bad.
