The Unstoppable Force Meets the Immovable Object

Megatron stood in a control room beside a communication console. On the other end of the communicator, Razorclaw had completed his report on the findings of his team. Hovering at Megatron's side and filling with dread was the Vehicon General, Jetstorm. Megatron summarized Razorclaw's report with melodrama.

Megatron: “So there is no evidence of the Autobot resistance? I wonder how this could possibly be? Jetstorm assured me that his team was attacked by an Autobot resistance and it would be quite uncharacteristic of him to attempt to deceive me, yes.”

Jetstorm's mind raced to fabricate another story to hide his failure to live up to his duties.

Jetstorm: “It was a long distance attack, magnificence. Airborne. They came from out of no where and struck hard and fast. My... my poor drones didn't know what hit them.”

For an instant, Megatron glared at Jetstorm with a tempest fury behind his optics. Megatron was well aware of Jetstorm's lie and he quickly weighed his fury against Jetstorm's worth. He was not aware of any airborne Autobots at all on Cybertron. None had ever been reported. Megatron chose to play a game for his own amusement. In reality, the game was to help Megatron justify that Jetstorm was still worth more alive than dead, despite his current attempt at blatant deception. Megatron wanted to see how the general would handle his line of questioning.

Megatron: “Airborne Autobots?”

Jetstorm could not believe Megatron was buying this. His mind pieced together a complete tale.

Jetstorm: “Yes your excellenceyness. I know what you're thinking! I was surprised too! I had certainly not been aware of any flight-capable Autobots on Cybertron but hey, they are slippery little suckers aren't they?”

Megatron's optics turned to slits.

Megatron: “Yes. Slippery indeed.”

Suddenly, Megatron's face turned matter-of-fact and he shrugged off the lie of Jetstorm.

Megatron: “Well, if there is an airborne threat, then I suppose I will have to send in my airborne specialist. Go Jetstorm and join Razorclaw in his hunt. Find this flight-capable Autobot and bring me his head.”

Jetstorm's optics shifted to the side.

Jetstorm: “Uh, you want me to hunt with the Predacons?”

Megatron: “Well, they will surely need your help if they are to bring down such a deadly foe.”

Jetstorm: “Riiight. Ok, well... I shall go my liege. I won't disappoint. Jetstorm, afterburn!”

As the general shifted to his alternate mode, Megatron rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

Megatron: “See that you don't. Yes.”

Megatron turned to exit the communications room. As the door slid open, the supreme ruler of Cybertron was startled to find Deathsuarus standing directly behind it.

Megatron: “Ah, Deathsaurus. I thought that you had gone to deliver your report to Gigatron.”

It was immediately clear to Megatron that something within the Destron had changed. There was an intensity beneath his words that Megatron had not seen in Deathsaurus for some time.

Deathsaurus: “The Predacons cannot alter the parameters of their mission. Their mission was not to track down Autobots that do not exist.”

Megatron mentally cursed himself for showing any sign of intimidation towards the Destron. Megatron was the proven Decepticon Chosen One and the undisputed Conqueror of Cybertron! He had nothing to fear from a Destron, not even one as powerful as Deathsaurus. The only problem with that theory was that Megatron was far too intelligent to believe it. The Destrons were always a threat

Megatron: “I have it all under control Deathsaurus. The Predacons will not deviate from their mission but they will administer some... retribution on Jetstorm's arrival.”

Deathsaurus remained unmoved. Megatron was not happy about this. He would not be intimidated. An intentional sternness was injected into his voice.

Megatron: “Now I have some questions for you, Deathsaurus. What exactly are you expecting Razorclaw to find at the site?”

Deathsaurus remained immobile, holding Megatron in his glare. After a long pause, he spoke.

Deathsaurus: “A presence.”

Megatron took an authoritative step towards the Destron.

Megatron: “What sort of presence?”

Deathsaurus continued to stand, unaffected by Megatron's attempt at intimidation.

Deathsaurus: “Further information will only be supplied upon Gigatron's command.”

Deathsaurus turned away from the Decepticon Chosen One and Megatron felt his incredulity swell.

Megatron: “How dare you!”

Deathsaurus paused and if Megatron had not been so outraged at the Destron's insolence, he may have felt some satisfaction. However, the satisfaction would have been unwarranted. Deathsauraus tuned his head slightly, feeling no need to meet Megatron's glare.

Deathsaurus: “This is not your business, Megatron.”

Megatron: “This is my planet! Everything is my business!”

Deathsaurus remained unphased my Megatron's outburst and continued to speak in a deliberate tone. He had still not fully turned around.

Deathsaurus: “And it will continue to be your planet. To that end, you have nothing to fear.”

Megatron's rage exploded! He grabbed Deathsaurus by the shoulder and spun him around.

Megatron: “I will not be spoken to this way! You will answer my question or you will face my wrath!”

The face of Deathsaurus revealed nothing. Although his rage would not allow it to show, the flat response of the Destron chilled Megatron to the core.

Deathsaurus: “I accept that your wrath is mighty, but be warned: wrath set upon me will only invoke an unequalled wrath upon you. The wrath of Unicron.”
