Like sands through the hourglass...
December Diary 2012 Project Day - 'A Few of my Favourite Things"
Day 12: My favourite soap opera
Okay! True confession time. I have been watching Day's of Our Lives for 31 years!
Yep! ME! The gal who complains about the lack of good programing on tv, and usually only watches channels like the History Channel, Discovery, PBS or National Geographic......watches a soap!
I got hooked years ago, when I was walking across my livingroom and had to stop dead in my tracks to watch this steamy love scene going on before my very eyes. I was immediately sucked into the story..........as contrived as it was........and have been following the stories of the fine folks of Salem, U.S.A. ever since.
I don't understand how women back in the day, could stop everything going on around them and watch "their story"......like my mom used to do.(she was an Edge of Night fan).
But with the advent of the VCR, it's made it easy to keep up with the story.
It's 45 minutes (when you zap through the commercials) of mindless entertainment each day. I also have a friend who has been watching it longer than I have and we have a lot of fun speculating about the story.
