"Do you think the Wright Brothers got started like this?"

Larry fashioned these two pieces of board with a rough finish that won't slide on our metal, standing seam porch roof, to put the ladder up to reach the 3rd floor roof.

Last week, a day after the tragedy, Larry announced that he was going to put the Christmas lights up on the 3rd floor roof.

I was horrified.

It's Larry's M.O. to keep himself busy during difficult times like this, but he was pretty shaky, and there was NO WAY I was going to let him climb a ladder! I'm not thrilled about him doing this job on a "normal" day.

As far as I was concerned we could just do without the lights on top of the house this year.

Larry, however, felt differently, and I was only able to postpone the job for a week.

He insisted on going up there this past weekend, He's having hernia surgery this a.m., and wanted to get it done before he'd be 'out of service".

Now my full time job for the next week or so, will to be to sit on him and not let him get up and do things he shouldn't be doing.

People are telling me, Oh! That should be easy. He'll be in some pain and it will hurt for him to be moving around."

To these people I say, "You do NOT know Larry!"

I might need duct tape and super glue to keep him down!
