After the Wurm

The Wurm Glacial at the end of the last Ice Age left behind a changed landscape. The theory I like best is that a huge ice dam burst (creating the Scablands in the USA) and poured so much fresh water into the ocean that currents were changed and Earth became much colder. This area was created by a massive chunk of ice which melted and became a lake (Mere). It is filled in now but water is still below the vegetation. A hundred years ago this was an industrial site. A dye works and very polluted.

There is a bench and Mick and I had lunch overlooking this area a few times, even on gloomy days. It is very peaceful. It was nice seeing it again
