Bulk display options

First of all, pardon my terrible terrible mockup, I really just wanted to get the idea out there rather than make it look pretty.

 

So as discussed, we want to give three options for your bulk items - always show, always hide, and only show when the item contains unread messages.

 

Here is a way that you could give users that option - in the edit mode each item will have an "options" dropdown.

 

My concern is that it would get confusing having the options, as well as the downward triangle, and it would probably be better to have the "bulk type" and "display options" sorted as one dropdown.
