Steamline map

Here is the map for my travel line (the world is imaginary). It's still a work in progress. I am going to have the different destinations connected by banners that flow around the map. I'm also going to change the longitude and latitude lines so that they don't look so.. corporate. Do you think the whirlpool is fitting in okay?
