thanksgiving appetizers

Last week a flickr friend insisted I take photos of the dinner we were cooking for Thanksgiving, but- as I had expected- the hecticness of the cooking process made it impossible for me to even think about a camera the last couple of hours of prep. I did manage, though, to remember earlier in the afternoon when I put out the appetizers. It's not a GOOD picture. But it IS a photo. :-)

 

For the fanatics, clockwise from left

-grapes Matt's mom Lyn prepared, dipped in jello powder, which turned out to be the surprise hit of the pre-meal

-home made bread sticks a la Martha Stewart, the recipe of which turned out to be designed for structure more than taste, ah well.

-olives

-cauliflower, which was dipped in the home made white bean, sundried tomato, roasted garlic & rosemary dip that's just out of the picture... surrounded by celery stuffed with cream cheese and pappardelle

-pepperoni

-home made salt & pepper crackers

-home made savory cranberry chutney

-cherry tomatoes... surrounded by celery stuffed with cream cheese and kalmata olives

-dates stuffed with cheese, and pecans from Lyn's Texas backyard

 

Nothing extraordinary, but enough to keep folks from starving for a while.
