dawn on the rocks

after yesterdawn's grey out hightide wave action with but a slim hope of better today, the coast run was tentative as to where might be best if a foreground subject became desperate. Collywell is a magnet of its own accord whenever there's a doubt, and it worked its magic again this morning.

Despite a huge grey sky covering moving southward with a sudden patch of fret, the sky behind the crossbedded sandstone stack tore open slightly with some faint yellows and pinks. It taunted and teased because the lately ubiquitous welt of horizon cloud was muffling the sunrise.

Then the orb began to appear. It ran through in very quick time a strong deep crimson orange to the shot above, forcing its way as if through gauze.

Had the tide been lower there is generally a deepish pool forms just beyond the foreground rock run, which catches reflections well. But I was happy with the lovely way the rocks lit up to clear the path of the sun
