Poor People's Campaign - Sacramento, CA

- A National Call for Moral Revival.

Monday May 14, 2018

Happening in 31 state capitals around the United States, Monday was the first day of a 40 day nationwide campaign challenging the morality of "systemic racism, systemic poverty, ecological devastation and the war economy".

Week One's focus: "Somebody's Hurting Our People: Child poverty, Women, and People with Disabilities, and Public Education."

Originally a vision of Martin Luther King in 1967, the Poor People's Campaign was multi-racial and multi-faith and brought many thousands of people to the National Mall in Washington DC following his assassination in 1968. 50 years later, the fight against racism, poverty, and a war economy continues and is joined by the fight against environmental degradation.
