Taos Pueblo in New Mexico has been inhabited for at least a thousand years. The adobe architecture seems to spring from the earth at the foot of Taos Mountain. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site and a living community, not a museum.
On the hills in the background there is still some snow (mid-May)!
