Fast conversion !
Starlab Lasermark was originally designed to lasermark narrow-body (NB) leadframe of SOIC. When Onsemi developed and introduced wide-body (WB) leadframe, Starlab needs to convert all its subassembly such as loader, conveyor, workholder and unloader to cater this new wide body (WB) leadframe.
However, we have 2 kinds of leadframe running in the production line-narrow and wide body (NB & WB). And everyday, Starlab is converted to as high as 3x per shift and the conversion took 15-30 minutes.
With this, I redesigned the Loader, Conveyor, Workholder and Unloader Subassemblies of Starlab Lasermark. I placed a pushbutton and once this button is pressed, conversion can happen in a second!
its like the movie Transformers where Bumblebee (the car) can transform into Autobots (the robot) in a second.
I used Japanese technique in this project called OTED short for "One Touch Exchange of Die".
