Fly agaric

I was pleased to come across this little stand of toadstools today - despite their distinctive colouring, they are not so easy to see on the ground! They are reasonably common in birch woodland, something we have a lot of in North Armagh, and have a close mycorrhizal association with the roots of the birch trees, and mutually benefit each other.
