CONCARNEAU -Festival des Filets bleus (153)

For several centuries, Concarneau has lived from sardine fishing. In 1902, then 1903 and the following years, the little blue fish deserted the Breton coasts. The entire economy is based on fishing. So it’s misery for families. Indeed, at that time, the entire town lived thanks to fishing, particularly with the canneries. It was then that a factory boss offered to organize a charity party for the sailors and their families. The Blue Nets Festival was born. It traditionally takes place on the second weekend of August. It is the oldest festival in Brittany and even in France. It has always kept its principle of solidarity.
