Black Eyed Susies
Eh.... not sure if I like this or not. Maybe I should have gone with the B&W version.
It’s been that kind of a day... being in the wrong place at the wrong time, got poured on, had props ruined, didn’t find my driver’s license that I misplaced (just one in a long string of things that have gone missing ...), didn’t get my car cleaned out and it’s worse than ever (and I will have to endure more remarks like... “ I don’t lock my car anymore, I just park next to Torrie. If anyone is going to break into a car, they won’t be interested in mine once they look into hers.” And after I said that I would have driven someone somewhere.... the reply... “Thanks. That’s nice of you, but where would I sit?”)
And... I’m kind of tired of people. I stayed up late last night, working on silly project to surprise someone that I don’t even know... because I just like to do stuff like that. I had plans to get up early and shoot a photo and then move on with my day. I had everything in the car, ready to roll. Little did I know that some people had left a surprise for me,too. Normally, I like surprises, good surprises anyway. Not this one. Lowlife losers, with nothing better to do than to spray paint unimaginative and vulgar obscenities and pictures of body parts on every wall of the place I was going to.... broke every window, smashed every bathroom fixture, pulled out radiators, ripped off doors and pulled the mantle right off of the fireplace. I can’t even begin to imagine what goes through people’s minds (that’s assuming that they even HAVE minds) when they do these things. And it couldn't have been easy, either. I mean, they put hard work and effort into this destruction. Really... this is the best use that they can find for their time.... to disrespect and destroy a place that has been standing for a hundred years.... for what reason? It made me sick and I wanted to cry. I had planned to use the mantle which was laying in pieces on the floor. I tried to fix it. I just didn’t have enough tools in my car, or the carpentry skills needed to put it back in place. I won’t be going back there again. I can only hope that Karma has plans for these horrible people... and maybe one day they will find something that they cared about smashed to pieces, too. Yes, I am tired of people.
So, I moved on to another place. Shot my photos. Got a text message... “There’s a tornado warning! Are you safe?” Well, I look around.... at the holes in the roof, and the big trees outside, and it starts to get dark quickly, and the wind picks up. Am I safe? Well, of course I’m not. I packed up my stuff, staged it at the doorway (A LOT of stuff.... needed several trips out to the car to load it all), I didn’t make it. Well.... I made it.... but I got caught in the torrential downpour on the first run to my car with my camera and tripod. Everything else got drenched. That’s not good. I sat in my car, hoping a tree wouldn’t fall on it until it stopped. When it finally stopped raining, I left and the road was flooded and there were trees and branches all over the roads. (it wasn’t a tornado though) And now, I had to add another chore to my “to do” list.... I had to go check on a friend’s house who is away and make sure the power didn’t go out and no trees fell on the house... because somehow I volunteered for that too. On the way back from there, I stopped and took this photo... and there, next to the house, was a bulldozer. That can’t be good. Yeah... it was THAT kind of a day.... and I am still finding ticks crawling on me, too. Yes, living the dream here.....
