For the birds!!

The snow I mean... it’s for the birds. Yesterday I looked out and the tree by my house was full of robins and I was thinking that they were in for a rude awakening. Weren’t they supposed to go south? (weren’t WE all supposed to go south?!)

So was I (in for a rude awakening, I mean.). I started shoveling at 4:30 am, 4 hours later.... yeah... 4 solid hours of shoveling and I QUIT!! The driveway is too long and by the time I got to one end, everything behind me was already filled in with at least another 5” of snow. I came back into the house once, just to check my phone and THANK GOD, they closed work, so now I can enjoy a full day of shoveling! Yipee! And the entire time I was out there, I saw very few people on the

roads.... which have still not been plowed. I did look up once as I was mindlessly and methodically plodding along, pushing the snow out from the front of my driveway and across the street (because when the snow plow does come, he’s just going to throw it all back into my driveway), to see a jeep sitting in the road, waiting for me to move. Ooops... I never even saw them coming, my peripheral vision totally obscured by two hoods and my hair that was now frozen on my face, and not able to hear either because of headphones... I just made a face, and mouthed... “oh! hi...sorry”!!! And kept pushing the snow. Then I remembered what I looked like. It was dark when I started. I couldn’t find my snow pants. So I put long johns on under my pajamas... my white, fluffy pajamas with brightly colored owls and stars.... and my very oversized Baltimore Orioles baseball jacket (black and orange), a hot pink scarf with blue and yellow stripes across my face and a sweatshirt hood and the jacket hood.... and mismatched mittens. Oh God.

And the poor birds. I wish I had bought bird seed, but I didn’t want to battle the “bread and milk” people at the supermarket. (Yes.... milk sandwiches.... hahaha!!! T.Y. !!)

The photo.... long before the snows. A cedar wax wing... a favorite of my sisters’. She’s a birder! Me, I just thought it was pretty colors! : ) And not the best of photos... but, it IS pretty colors! ; )

Stay warm. Be safe out there!
