Antario Simon

Congratulations to Antario Simon, an athletic training and kinesiology major from Alton, IL, for being this week's #ResidentofEIU! Antario hopes to have a career as a Physical Therapist or Athletic Trainer for a Professional Sports Team. One of his accomplishments was being offered to play the piano for Stevenson reservation. He also works on the deli side of #StevensonHall Dining.

What he enjoys about living on campus is that it "has made it easier to get to an from class, makes it easier to focus without the stress of bills and other things that come with living off campus which I’ve done before." The EIU faculty has also been extremely helpful towards Antario since they genuinely care and are concern about his successes and made share not judge him on his struggles. "I’m very thankful for the opportunities and favor I’ve received here at EIU."

He advises #FuturePanther to get a head start and stay focus. While enjoying the social events at EIU are fun and a great way to get to know EIU and your fellow classmates, it is easy to forget about your academics but hard to get out of that hole as Antario stated to us. Remember why you came to EIU which was to get degree!

Lastly, Antario shared that he hopes to get his grades up in order to play for our basketball team. Even with acceptances to play in Canada, Austria, and Mexico, Antario wants to get his degree first. "I will use EIU as a building block, mentally and physically but I like the direction this school is steering me in."

Way to go, Antario! We love hearing about our students' successes on campus and we hope more will come your way in the future.
