Amber Bradfield
#EIUFamily meet this week's #ResidentofEIU, Amber Bradfield from Danforth, IL. Amber is a business major who hopes to run her own establishment one day or work for a major corporation!
When asked how living on campus has impacted her experience, she answered, "I enjoy living on campus because everything is so close to you. Food, Classes, People. You don't have to go to far to go anywhere which is really cool. Also because you are able to see your friends everyday without it being a hassle."
Amber has made plenty of friends, even found her college bestie at EIU, through being involved on campus. She is the Marketing Chair for 2018 Homecoming Committee and is the #McKinneyHall Council President! "When I started off here, I knew no one but one of my really close friends from home, then being in programs like Gateway and now Homecoming Committee and Hall Council, I have been able to meet plenty of people and have been able to form bonds with people I would have never expected to hang with!" Amber further explained.
Amber has some advice for #FuturePanthers. "I would have to say don't be afraid to talk to people you don't know, like allow yourself to make friends, you may be meeting your future best friend." Amber also advices to self care is just as important as your academic work. Take time to relax and de-stress!
Her final thoughts: " When beginning life in a newer environment, its easy to be afraid and misunderstood. But there are ways that you can overcome obstacles like that. So , when coming to school, either at a big university or at your community college, don't be afraid to branch out and meet new people or join organizations that interest you! you never know exactly what you are going to find in this adventure that we call life!"
Congrats, Amber! We hope you continue to succeed at EIU and gain more experience!
