Allen Johanson

Meet Allen Johanson, #EIUfamily! Allen is from Bartlett, IL and is a transfer student from Elgin Community College. He will be receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology.

Allen enjoys living on campus for it allows him to meet new friends that just live down the hall. Also, not having to worry about cooking and washing dishes allows him to focus more on his schoolwork and activities.

Allen's advice for #FuturePanthers is "to take your school work seriously, but don't let that be your life. Get involved on campus." Allen has enjoyed his experience while being involved in the Thomas Hall Council as its Campus Liaison and the Immanuel Lutheran Campus Ministry. Being the Campus Liaison for Thomas Hall, Allen helps "plan, organize, and host various events for our residents as well as other students on campus." Other than living in Thomas Hall, Allen has found several friends through his involvements at EIU. By being involved and making new friends, he was able to make many memories!

Allen's reasons for choosing to live on campus at EIU for "the campus was not overwhelming and the small class sizes allowed for professors to actually know me, so i wasn't just a name on an attendance sheet. I chose to live on campus because of the convenience of not having to commute daily to get to class, greater opportunities to meet people, and not having to make time to go to the grocery store to buy food and cook it." Allen explained to us.

Congratulations, Allen on being this week's #ResidentofEIU! Continue to make friends and memories while you are here at EIU.
