Maddie Havens

Congratulations to Maddie Havens on being this week's #ResidentofEIU! Maddie is a sophomore from Normal, IL and is studying English.

"What I like about living on campus is the ease with which you can make friends with people in the building, and the fact that you can bump into those people anywhere. Some of my favorite conversations I've ever had have taken place in the hallway, at the front desk, even in the bathroom." Her favorite memories at EIU actually have to deal with how easy it is for her to keep contact with her friends, especially her best friend who lived two doors down from her room!

Maddie has been influenced by our faculty at EIU, particularly the English faculty. "In the very brief moments that I have considered changing my major, one of the biggest things that kept me from doing so was the fact that I would miss my English professors so much."

Maddie also had some great advice for our #FuturePanthers: "never stop trying to make new friends, because you never know who might change your life." We agree, Maddie, and the best place to keep making friends is by being involved on campus like Maddie is! She is a member of EIU's English Club and is desk assistant at #ThomasHall. "Being a desk assistant in Thomas Hall has greatly benefited my EIU experience. It has taken me out of my comfort zone and has allowed me to meet so many interesting people. Through living on campus and working in my building I have made many great friends that I otherwise may never have even met."

Congratulations again, Maddie, on being this week's ROE! We hope you gain more friends and experiences while you are here at EIU.
