Michael Mayer
Congratulations to Michael Mayer for being this week’s #ResidentofEIU!
Michael is a transfer student from Schaumburg, Illinois and is majoring in music education as well as minoring in psychology.
He is involved in Phi Mu Alpha and currently is the Fraternal Education Officer, where his role is to plan rush events and talk about his fraternity. He is also the Weller Hall representative for RHA.
With all of his involvements and being an education major on top of that, Michael keeps himself busy which he stated that he prefers it that way, for he likes “to be a helping hand to the community.” He also benefits from his extracurricular activities since they give him the chance to gain leadership skills and meet new people.
Michael has had a great experience with our faculty, and here is what he had to say about it. “The faculty here really push me to do my best and care for my professional and my personal well-being.” He also credited much of his hard work to his professors for taking the time to be there for him in any way they could.
Although Michael’s previous university, Illinois State, has a bigger campus than Eastern, Michael found that #EIU has had a bigger impact on his life and is happy that he transferred here. “When transferring, the biggest thing that drew me in to EIU was definitely Dounda Fine Arts Center, once I got a tour I fell in love with the campus as a whole.” Michael stated.
Michael you are wise beyond your years! We are so proud of what you have accomplished so far at EIU, and can’t wait to watch you grow even more as a student leader!
