Sam Gilbert

Meet Sam Gilbert, this week’s #ResidentofEIU and one of our recipients of the Careers in Housing and Student Affairs Scholarship! Sam is a senior majoring in Political Science and minoring in Pre-Law Studies and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Sam is a Resident Assistant in Ford Hall, Senior Vice-President of our own EIU NRHH, and a Social Justice League member. In addition to her great on campus involvement, Sam is also a studious panther! She is part of the Sandra & Jack Pine Honors College and has Departmental Honors in Political Science.

When asked about living on campus, Sam said, “Eastern felt like home from the moment I first arrived for a campus tour, and still provides that same warmth to this day. The variety in housing allows you to find a space where you will truly thrive, especially because of how close the halls are to resources and food. There are people in my life who have changed me for the better, and that would not have happened had I chose to not live on campus.” She suggests that #FuturePanthers have a lot to learn during their time at EIU, “Even if you do not know what it is you are looking for, Eastern will reveal paths for adventure, growth, and success — but, it is up to you to take the first leap.”

Thank you for all of your hard work in EIU Housing and around campus Sam!
