PLEASE HELP ME !!!
The news about the badger cull has been devastating, watching our little cubs in the rain lately has been heartbreaking, knowing if they leave the town they could well be shot. Badgers are our best loved, most beautiful and enigmatic animals; they are also pretty much our flagship mammal species for legal protection. There is a little bit of HOPE yet, PLEASE if you have the time could you fill in this very short form on the RSPCA website, I'll be eternally grateful : )

There's a pre-written piece opposing the cull, all you need to do is give your name and email adress, of course the RSPCA is one of the most respected charities in the world so it's completely safe. If anyone outside the UK wants to do it just type anything where it says postcode, it's the same as zip code in the US.

Our ' government ' wants to shoot badgers in their tens of thousands in an UTTERLY FUTILE attempt to control bovine tuberculosis. They will shoot them ' free-running ', can you imagine trying to shoot such a shy animal in darkness ? The chances of a ' clean kill ' aren't very high are they. A team of our best scientists was set up to look into whether a cull would help, after 10 years of work they concluded categorically that :
' BADGER CULLING CAN MAKE NO MEANINGFUL CONTRIBUTION TO CATTLE TB CONTROL IN THE UK '
It's absolute madness to go ahead with a cull that at best won't work, and in all likelihood it will make bovine TB worse !?!?!?

What often doesn't get mentioned is that as this has rumbled on badger crime has risen sharply, this decision is effectively the green light for people to slaughter badgers, whether licensed by the government or not. In all likelihood as many or more badgers will be killed illegally by shooting, poisoning, snaring and badger baiting. Some farmers' preferred method of killing badgers is to pour slurry into the entrance to a sett, drowning the badger family in liquid shit, it truly beggars belief. I'm not sure I could cope with a badger cull, please help : )
