1942 Dodge W Series 3 ton Truck
Dodge trucks from 1939-47 were known as the ‘Job Rated Trucks’. The 1939 Art Decor styling didn’t change much during this time due to WWII taking up most of the production from 1942-45 for the military.
These Job Rated Dodges were the first to offer a 4WD commercial pickup and also the first to offer a diesel.
1939 were the T series, 1940, the V series and from 1941-47 were the W series
Engine; 331 cu in 6 cyl
This Western Transport truck was used on the Brisbane to Toowoomba run, during the War it was used to run up to 30 soldiers back to Brisbane, who were home on leave in Toowoomba, this gave them a few extra hours with family compared to taking the train
