1955 Bentley S1 Saloon

Australia.

British automaker Bentley was founded in 1919 by W.O.Bentley. Rolls Royce took over Bentley in 1931.

The Bentley S1, introduced in 1955, got a completely new design, they were longer and lower. The doors, bonnet and boot lid were made of aluminium. As with the preceding Mark VI and R type Bentleys, only the grille and badging differed from it's Rolls-Royce equivalent, the Silver Cloud.

A high-performance version S Continental (chassis only) was introduced six months after the introduction of the S1. Lighter weight fixed-head and drophead coupé bodies were provided to special order by H. J. Mulliner & Co., Park Ward, James Young and Freestone & Webb.

The 1959 S2 Bentley got the new aluminium Rolls-Royce - Bentley L Series 6230cc V8.

S1 Engine; the last model to use the 4667cc L series 6 cyl
