British automaker Bentley was founded in 1919 by W.O.Bentley. Rolls Royce took over Bentley in 1931.
The 1955 Bentley S1 Saloon new external appearance, longer and lower.
The 1959 Bentley S2 got the new aluminium V8, replacing the old L series 6 cyl, also a new dash and steering wheel.
The 1962 Bentley S3 got the twin headlights, a slightly lower bonnet line and individual front seats
Only the grille and badging differed from the Rolls-Royce equivalent, the Silver Cloud III.
In 1959 Coach builder; H.J. Mulliner, was acquired by Rolls Royce. Mulliner was merged with Park Ward, forming Mulliner, Park Ward Ltd. They built 311 S3 Continentals with aluminium bodies (the standard S3 was all steel), they produced the 4 door Flying Spur, and 2 door fixed head and drop head coupe, (the 2 door Continentals had unique canted headlights).
