1963 Ford FC Fairlane 500 Compact
Ford’s ‘Compact’ Fairlane first appeared in the US in 1962 as a mid-range model positioned between the Falcon and the full-size Galaxie, the Fairlane became known as the ‘Compact’ due to its decreased size compared to earlier ‘Tank’ Fairlanes.
The 1962-64 Compact Fairlane were also built in Australia in right hand drive. While the Fairlane was available in a range of body styles over in the US, including 2 and 4 door sedans, sports coupe and wagons, Ford Australia only marketed the basic four-door sedan.
For 1963, the Fairlane got a concave grille, revised bonnet, guards and tail lights. 1771 FC Fairlanes were produced in Australia in 1963. 336 were also assembled in New Zealand from CKD kits
