HMS ACTIVE arriving at Malta after her collision with the destroyer HMS WORCESTER
On 16 February 1937 HMS ACTIVE was in collision with HMS WORCESTER off Kurd Bank when HMS ACTIVE’s steering gear failed while she was travelling at 24knots. She received extensive damage and repairs along with refit were undertaken at Malta and not completed until 1 June 1937.
HMS WORCESTER returned to Malta on the 17 February and was paid off into reserve on 23 February . Repairs were undertaken at Malta and left for UK arriving Portsmouth 8 April 1937 and placed in reserve on the 15 May for 3 months.
