William Larrymore Smedley was born in Sandyville, OH; he lived and worked in Chatauqua, NY for many years. He was a painter, craftsperson, graphic artist, designer, sculptor, architect, illustrator, writer, and lecturer. He studied at the Case School for Applied Science in Cleveland. His work was widely exhibited during his lifetime, including at the Albright Art Gallery.
