Eternal Guardian (see description)
This was basically a test fig that I was using to try some different techniques and effects, but it turned-out decent enough that I went ahead and posted it after repainting a few sections.
I was tinkering with some things here that are different from my typical customs. Very muted colors were used and the fig was intentionally made messy with a lot of weathering, battle damage, random marks, you name it. It's definitely not a "clean" paint job by any stretch.
Originally I wanted to create a marbled effect on the shield, but it wasn't going too well so I'm back to the drawing board on that technique (you can still see traces of that in the other photo, but most of it was painted over). After that, some random battle damage was added to the shield, which also confirmed another thought - those two effects probably won't play well together!
Anyway, a bit about the process and some practicing here. If you leave a comment please share something about YOUR experience - the process you use, a tip of some sort, mistakes and ways around them, etc. This can be with painting, decaling, sculpting, modifications, whatever…just something that others will find useful or funny. I think it will be interesting for people to read through some of those things.
