Pilot light
Late afternoon in Sydney today.
Friday, 23rd January, 2026.
A pilot boat slicing across Sydney harbour near the Bradleys Head Lighthouse. A late afternoon sailing regatta in the distance.
So today after finishing work at Chatswood at 6.00pm I decided, rather suddenly, not to face the evil Lane Cove Tunnel and the hideous M2 in peak-period, but instead drive down to Mosman and check out the Sydney Harbour National Park.
I parked the car in a car-park near Athol Hall (a heritage building now serving as a cafe/restaurant), and tackled the Taylors Bay Walking Track which takes you through the National Park to Bradleys Head. All along the track you can see the harbour and its rocky foreshore through the trees.
You emerge from the forest near Bradleys Head Lighthouse, where there are little beaches with views across to the city.
I then waited for the sunset and took a zillion photos from the beach beside the Bradley's Head Ampitheatre. See:
