The Princess
So this is my 'Princess de Monaco' hybrid tea-rose.
Photographed yesterday in Sydney amid the late afternoon tropical style rain that seems to be a regular feature of our summers.
Sunday, 4th January, 2026.
Princess de Monaco is a hybrid tea-rose from Meilland roses of southern France. It is an ivory edged pink rose with precisely 30 petals that do not fade in colour.
It is actually a blended hybrid tea rose cultivar bred in France by Marie-Louise Meilland and introduced in 1981. It is dedicated to Princess Grace of Monaco, who was president of Salon de la Rose's Jury in Monaco in 1981. Its parents were two hybrid tea cultivar roses, 'Ambassador', and the very famous 'Peace' rose.
I will post a photograph of my 'Peace' rose in the coming days.
And here, to accompany my 'Princess' rose, is my favourite princess of pop, Dua Lipa, with her cool song 'Love Again'. Check out what a groovy cowgirl she is!!! Woohoo!! I am told that she likes roses. Brilliant. On her next visit to Sydney maybe she can take an Uber out to the Hills District to check out my rose garden, lol.
