Kangaroo Paw

'Kangaroo Paw' - an Australian native flower - Anigozanthos flavidus, a rhizomatous perennial plant, noted for its unique bird-attracting flowers. Originally from Western Australia but now available all over Australia in nurseries and garden centres - in Bunnings for example!!

They are called 'Kangaroo Paw' because it is said that the flowers resemble the claws of a kangaroo.

These flowers are a real magnet for honeyeaters and so I have collected three of them for the balcony here at Cherrybrook, in northern Sydney, in the hope that the Eastern Spinebill honeyeater, and maybe the New Holland honeyeater, may visit me.

My Canon 5D Mk IV with the Canon f 2.8 L 100mm macro lens.
