1950s Boomerang Vinyl Upholstery_detail

A close-up shot of a cutting of 1950s vinyl upholstery fabric of unknown pattern name and manufacturer. THE most fantastic piece of 1950s industrial art that I've ever seen at least in the area of decorative applied plastic materials. This cotton backed vinyl wears an incredibly detailed pattern of abstract shapes deeply embossed into it. Each abstract shape carries inside its borders a hash-mark detail and each small hash-mark has its OWN tinier details. In addition a subtle micro embossed detail of grooved parallel lines faintly covers each large shape. Carried across the entire width of the fabric this faint line detail follows the orientation of the hash-marks which are alternately rotated to different points of the compass. The fine line detail reflects the light in such a way that the entire surface of the fabric glows. I've darken the levels on this shot to bring out the details.

Swatch dims.: 6" x 15".
