HBA introduces Fairmont Nile City in Cairo

KUALA LUMPUR: HBA, the world's biggest hospitality design firm, has unveiled its latest masterpiece: The Fairmont Nile City in Cairo.

The upscale cosmopolitan hotel positions itself as a lively hub of entertainment that aims to revive Cairo's cafe culture, targeting wealthy Egyptians and tourists.

It features a Havana-inspired cigar bar, the jazz-themed Onyx Bar and the rooftop Sky Bar as well as two restaurants, namely the Californian Napa Grill and Asian Saigon Bleu.

The hotel also takes pride in its art programme, which it touts as one of the most unique commercial collections of contemporary Egyptian art, curated by a chosen group of award-winning painters and sculptors.

It carries the works of artists such as Mostafa Abdel Moity and Mohamed Al Fayoumi.

Hotel design
HBA had designed the hotel to invoke a "dramatic, timeless mystique" by melding the river's natural beauty with elements of old and new Egypt.

The result is a modern interpretation of Cairo's Deco period that is quietly elegant and polished, with a natural palette largely comprising grey, camel and black.

Guestrooms come in two different styles, differentiated by their colour schemes.

The first style mainly features sage, camel and black with black carved cornices and dusky green walls, customised furniture with bow-shaped armoires, a black oval desk and chrome and glass lighting. The room's centrepiece is a black leather floor-to-ceiling tufted headboard that is embedded with a mirror.

The second style is similar in design, save for the lighter colours — the headboards and bedding are cream-coloured with black or camel piping, while curtains are cream with teal accents and the stone features cream-coloured stones.

Fairmont Nile City's ballroom sports metallic wall panels, tall doors with deco handles and textured velvet drapes in muted green and purples as well as deco alcove and alabaster urns.

Sculptural lighting is installed along the ballroom with long crystal sconces on the walls. Within the ballroom are grey tables and tan leather chairs.
