The SAM Song Story:
"SAM Song" An expression used to describe the sound of a warning alarm system provided in US made Phantom F-4 jet fighter bomber, once the system picks the SAM launcher targeting radar , a beep starts warning the pilot from the coming missile providing precious seconds to commence missile counter measures.
The Egyptian SAM operators were masters in a simple technique to hunt Israeli F-4s called "False Launch", where a set of signals are sent to simulate all electronic waves caused by SAM launch, these signals triggered the F-4's SAM song causing the jet pilot to start evading a missile that was never launched !! during this time 2 other missiles (real missiles) are launched, the result is a nice surprise to the Israeli pilot and his navigator when they suddenly realize that they were busting their asses trying to escape an illusion, and by the time they reach that realization , the fellow Mach-3 missile is only few meters away…
