Broadside is looking to hear from teachers, parents, students, staff and anyone else with daily engagement with public education in Flint. Send us your polemics, poems, policy reforms, prose, and pie-in-they-sky dreams for what education could look like in our community today.
We especially would like to publish firsthand testimony from teachers. No matter what you think of the outcome of the Chicago Teachers Union Strike, it was their courage, conviction, and care that won them what they got—which included the respect and support of the community of which they are critical members.
So ask the following 9 quiz questions (and more) of yourself and your colleagues and send the answers to us. Heck, have your students come up with some questions of their own to ask you. Or if you like, Broadside respects all requests for anonymity.

It is obvious that schools are struggling all over, and particularly in places like Flint, Michigan.
1. From your position and experience, how are they struggling?
2. What would you change to improve the situation?
3. What is most difficult to do in a Flint school classroom nowadays?
4. How has school funding changed?
5. How have those changes impacted your teaching?
6. How have charter schools changed the game from your perspective?
7. What kinds of state expectations and assessments have impacted your teaching the most?
8. Would a guaranteed free higher ed incentive, like the Kalamazoo Promise, work here?
9. Did the Chicago teachers’ strike mean anything to teachers in Flint?
