How lucky are you?
Pretty sure there are people in the world who realize, truly realize, how lucky they are. I can imagine that there is a hidden tribe of people in the jungles of Borneo where 100% of the population are content and want for naught. Maybe they have little, need little and wake each day with joy for just being alive and a part of their humanity.
Problem is, here, in much of the rest of the world, our comprehension and insight is delivered to us by media. For the few who are lucky enough to travel abroad (and I am not referring to tour packages here), a deeper understanding of the bigger picture is more fact than 'television image'.
So, our Tribe of Contentment in the Borneo Jungles is mere fantasy...maybe true, maybe not.
Thus, for most of us, our only way to gauge "how lucky we are" is by what we experience in the reality of our daily lives. Man! How many times do I say, "God! I hate this fuckin' job!" or, " Is my teenaged son ever going to take some responsibilty?" or so many other trivial matters, each and every day.
But, you see, that approach, that kind of mindset is all wrong. We all know it. We all tell ourselves that we should focus on what we have and "how lucky we are". Sigh...sometimes, it is hard to maintain that focus.
