Just a bit of fun for the HBCCT group. Come on in and play along!
Ok so I learnt a HUGE lesson today about security. I want to pass this on to all you folks that may have an iphone. I didn't have a passcode on mine. Well I did but I took it off about 2 months ago as it got on my nerves (doh!!) and today I found out that all your data and information is stored on the flash drive on your iphone and not on your sim. Ok so most of you probably knew this and most of you probably passcode lock your phones because you are probably waaaay more sensible than me!!
But for me what this means is that whomever stole my iphone now has access to all my contact info, my emails, my FB accounts, flickr accounts etc as it was all linked up to my phone. I have now of course changed all my passwords for as much stuff as I can remember, but I guess I feel a bit uneasy knowing that for over a week now they have been able to use and or abuse all my stuff :( I don't think in all honesty that they were interested in doing that though as I haven't noticed any strange activity on any of my accounts etc so hopefully they just wiped it and are using it or trying to sell it.
I also found out about the 'find my iphone' app (for iphone 4). Apparently if I had this activated on my phone I could have tracked down my phone, wiped it remotely and put a message on the screen - hindsight eh?!
Anyway for those of you 'techno-phobs living in a everyone is honest bubble' like myself who didn't think to have a code lock or find out about tracking apps, I guess I am just urging you all to be more aware as I wouldn't want you to have to go through what I am :(
