Greater Yellowlegs
Taken at Ona Beach State Park, OR. This is actually a composite. This Greater Yellowlegs was very cooperative and I spent a long time with it, however, when I took these pictures, it had gotten too close to stay within the frame. (With my 1.4x teleconverter and 1.5x crop sensor, my 600mm lens was an effective 1275mm) Luckily, I took a few pictures while it was stretching and I was able to get adjacent pictures to line up well enough to get a decent single picture (I have little compositing experience). I'm fond of pictures with a bird stretching as it makes me feel like I have a common bond with it.
