The name Bangladesh means "Country of Bengal" in the official Bengali language. Bangladesh is a sovereign state located in South Asia. It is bordered by India on all sides except for a small border with Burma(Myanmar) to the far southeast and by the Bay of Bengal to the south.
Bangladesh is a country of intriguing natural and cultural wonders, yet it remains largely undiscovered by tourists. Most of the general assumptions we have about Bangladesh are quickly negated by leaving its densely populated cities in search of small villages. Bangladesh sits on the largest river delta in the world, something belied by the verdant hills and valleys of its tea-growing regions. Its population is 98 percent Bengali, but visit some traditional tribal villages and you experience the cultures of the other 2 percent. It is a predominantly Muslim nation, yet there are Hindu,Buddhist relics to discover in ancient villages.
