Laura Blake - The Untold Story: Chapter 9
The movie and Laura's performance received raves from both critics and movie audiences. Deciding to cash in on her sudden popularity, the studio offered her the lead in "To Have and to Hold", a drama about an unwed mother who, after eight years of searching, finds her son in a church orphanage.
Laura had kept her private life a secret. She accepted the role, hiding her misgivings behind a veil of happiness and excitement over her burgeoning acting career. Laura was drawn into the character and at times felt it was consuming her; throughout much of the filming she verged on an emotional breakdown.
