WWII ALLIES: HMAS CANBERRA [I] in Brisbane Aug. 6, 1933 - Sunday Sun Collection, JOL.
6402. Well, we have been looking forward to finding an appropriate place to upload this atmospheric pre-WWII newspaper image of HMAS CANBERRA [I] approaching the Hamilton Street Wharf in the Brisbane River.
It's a late and seperate discovery that belongs to a sequence of three that we showed at Pic Nos 943-945, starting here:

CANMBERRA was coming into Brisbane to attend an event known as Exhibition Week, and is wearing an admiral's flag. It 's peacetime, and almost exactly nine years too before her loss at Savo Island.
